VAN BUREN TOWNSHIP, Mich. -- Visteon has received the 2011 Alfred P. Sloan Award for Business Excellence in Workplace Flexibility for companies in Michigan.

Based in Van Buren Township, Mich., Visteon is the only automotive-related company among 24 Michigan honorees to receive this prestigious award. Visteon ranks in the top 20 percent of employers nationally for policies and practices that incorporate workplace flexibility as part of an effective strategy to achieve business objectives and help employees balance on- and off-the-job responsibilities.

This is the third consecutive year Visteon received this honor and the fourth time overall. Visteon will be recognized at an award ceremony Oct. 7 in Traverse City, Mich.

"It is an honor to again be recognized for our flexible workplace practices," said Keith Shull, Visteon's senior vice president, human resources. "We believe the programs and tools we have in place help maximize employee effectiveness and satisfaction, which is beneficial to the company. We strive to create a performance-driven culture that incorporates best practices in work/life balance."

The Alfred P. Sloan Awards for Business Excellence in Workplace Flexibility are part of When Work Works, a national project on workplace effectiveness and workplace flexibility from Families and Work Institute in partnership with The Center for Workforce Preparation, an affiliate of the U.S. Chamber of Commerce and the Twiga Foundation.
