SEMA Board Proposes to Reduce Its Size

DIAMOND BAR, Calif. -- The SEMA Board of Directors recently approved a motion to decrease the size of the board. The initiative reflects a consensus that a smaller board would improve the quality of discussion and reduce costs.

If approved, the number of SEMA Board members would be reduced from 26 to 14 members. To move forward with the initiative, ballots were sent out to approximately 6,000 voting members in mid-September. The issue is now being voted upon by SEMA’s entire membership.

The theory is that a smaller group would be able to have more productive discussions, see each other eye-to-eye, be prepared and be accountable, SEMA says. Consequently, the board is hoping to see higher quality input, analysis and better board decisions and guidance.

SEMA Board leadership is urging all qualified member companies to promptly register their vote on this important matter. Only the primary contact for each member company can cast a vote on behalf of a member company. Primary contacts who did not receive a login credentials by e-mail may contact SEMA at 909-610-6030, or via e-mail at ArleneW@sema.org.
