Former Goodyear sales manager and Lee Tire Co. CEO Bill Sweatt, 85, passed away recently.

Sweatt began his long career with Goodyear in 1947 in Sacramento, Calif., where he took a job in the tiremaker’s plant there. He eventually took over as head of tire sales at Goodyear’s Akron, Ohio, headquarters.

In 1980, Sweatt was named CEO of Goodyear’s Lee Tire Co. subsidiary. He moved back to his native California after retiring in 1987.

Sweatt is survived by his wife of 64 years, Helen, and four daughters.
