Industry veteran and longtime Babcox contributor Dave Caracci gives us the latest installment in his summertime series of firsthand accounts of life at the track.

Sometimes in the parts business, we need to make fast decisions to "close the deal."  If it works out and we get the deal, are we heroes with great negotiating skills, or just lucky? Other times we miss getting the deal by fractions. Are we "bums" or just unlucky?

Is it better not to try at all and never fail or to "go for the gold ring" and learn from our failures?
