FENTON, Mo. – AMS Automotive announced yesterday that longtime employee George Travis passed away suddenly on Saturday, July 16 at the age of 64. Travis started his career with AMS Automotive in 1994; he currently served as AMS national sales manager for Mexico/Caribbean and as regional sales manager for the western United States.

Prior to joining AMS, Travis was employed as a sales representative specializing in automotive diagnostic equipment at Hunter Engineering and Sun Electric. He also worked in retail management at JCPenny for 14 years.

Travis is survived by his wife of 40 years, Eileen; his daughter and son-in-law, Angela and Craig Sims; his two grandchildren, Connor and Audrey; his mother, Mary Ellen; as well as many other relatives and friends.

Travis proudly served in the inaugural crew aboard the USS Narwal, a nuclear fast-attack submarine, as part of his service to his country. He also had a great passion and love for anything to do with the automobile.

“George will be missed by all of us,” AMS stated in its memorial. “Please join us in keeping his family and friends in your thoughts and prayers.”

Memorials may be made to the American Heart Association.
