TORONTO, Ontario NUCAP Industries Inc. recently broke ground on an expansion to its facilities in Pamplona, Spain, to support increased demand for the company's brake backing plates, noise abatement shims and electronic wear sensors in Europe. The expansion project will allow for the increase of brake plate and shim capacity by 50 percent, the company says.
Commenting on the expansion, NUCAP CEO Vince Butera said, “The 16,000-square-foot expansion will allow for more efficient operation of existing production lines while providing the needed space for new plate lines, new shim lines and some additional office space to enhance our customer support and marketing efforts.”
The project schedule allows for the increased shim production in June and plate production by August.
NUCAP originally acquired a 50 percent stake in ADI Metalparts S.A. of Pamplona, Spain, in 2006 before acquiring full ownership in late 2010.
The plant produces backing plates, shims and electric wear sensors for many major brake friction companies in Europe, such as ICER Brakes, Federal-Mogul, TMD, Eurofriction and Honeywell.
