SOUTHFIELD, Mich. – Polk has announced that its U.S.-based operations have received the prestigious ISO/IEC 27001:2005 certification from SRI Quality System Registrar, an internationally accredited registrar for management systems standards.

According to Polk, this coveted distinction is the international standard for the Information Security Management Systems (ISMS) comprising more than 140 controls covering information security, privacy and compliance. Polk is one of just 100 other organizations in the U.S. to receive the certification.

“This achievement is the result of several years of investment and collaboration across Polk’s U.S.-based operations,” said Ethan Steiger, Polk vice president and chief security officer.

Benefits of the certification include an enhanced customer alignment as many of Polk’s customers have adopted ISO/IEC 27001:2005 as their partial or exclusive information security standard. In addition, this achievement provides increased confidence in Polk’s ability to handle customer information appropriately, consistently and securely while demonstrating its commitment to operational excellence and continuous improvement, the company says.

“This certification exemplifies the ongoing commitment Polk has to understand, meet and exceed our customers’ information assurance requirements and expectations,” said Tim Rogers, president, Polk. “We are proud to join an exclusive group of just 100 other certified organizations in the U.S.”

The certification provides evidence to Polk customers, suppliers, employees and community of its commitment to producing quality products and services and providing customer satisfaction, the company says.

“It was a privilege to work with Polk,” said Christopher Lake, president of SRI Quality System Registrar. “The high level of commitment and understanding demonstrated by the entire Polk team regarding the information security and privacy concerns of their customers was impressive. These traits are key to achieving success in ISO 27001 efforts.”
