TROY, Mich. -- Meritor Inc. has appointed Matthew Stevenson as general manager, North American Field Operations & Marketing, effective immediately. Stevenson reports directly to Joe Plomin, vice president, Truck Americas, Meritor.
"Matt has been a valuable asset to the marketing team in the time he has been with the company," Plomin said. "His field sales background and product marketing experience make him an excellent choice for this position."
In his new role, Stevenson is responsible for leadership of the North America field sales team, service, training, fleet and dealer relationships and Meritor WABCO field sales. He will also retain responsibility for product marketing in North America supporting the company's Truck, Trailer, and Specialty business units.
Prior to joining Meritor in 2010, Stevenson spent nearly 10 years at Daimler Trucks North America (DTNA) and held several positions of increasing responsibility within DTNA, including executive level positions in the areas of marketing, sales and product strategy. He has worked in the commercial truck industry since 1997.
Stevenson holds a bachelor of science in management from GMI Engineering and Management and is currently enrolled in the executive MBA program at the Stephen M. Ross School of Business at the University of Michigan.
Meritor Inc. also has appointed John Nelligan to the role of general manager, OEM Sales & National Accounts, replacing Dennis Kline, who recently retired from the company after 36 years. Nelligan also reports directly to Plomin.
"John's extensive background in the North America truck industry is a vital component to being successful in this role," Plomin said. "He brings the perfect blend of experience and knowledge to this job."
In this position, Nelligan is responsible for Meritor's OEM customers in North America. Nelligan will also retain responsibility for Meritor's large national accounts.
Nelligan most recently served as general manager, North American Field Operations, and brings more than 20 years of industry experience to the role. Prior to joining Meritor in 2009, he spent four years as Dealer Principal and GM at Harper Truck Centres Inc. in Mississauga, Ontario, Canada. He has also previously held executive positions at Daimler Trucks North America and Western Star Trucks.
Nelligan holds a bachelor's degree in political administration from Brock University in St. Catharines, Ontario.
