RESEARCH TRIANGLE PARK, N.C. — Thanks to the support of Gates Corp., eight students pursuing automotive aftermarket careers will receive Global Automotive Aftermarket Symposium (GAAS) scholarships.

“Gates is proud to invest in our industry’s future and support these worthy recipients of the GAAS scholarships this year,” said Jeff Brekke, president, global automotive aftermarket, Gates Corp.

“We had a record number of outstanding applicants this year, and our scholarship committees reviewed approximately 523 applications,” said Pete Kornafel, chairman of the GAAS Scholarship Selection Committee. “We are able to present these eight scholarships thanks to the generous support of Gates.”

These students will receive a $1,000 scholarship to advance their education, either at two-year vocational/technical colleges or four-year colleges and universities. This year’s recipients of Gates-sponsored scholarships are:

• Carl Boyd, Havertown, Pa.
• Jason Callahan, Ogden, Utah
• Brandon Day, Roy, Utah
• Samantha Feldbauer, Springfield, Va.
• John Geiger, Red Bluff, Calif.
• Hayley Kincaid, Isom, Kent.
• Cody Pringle, Deford, Mich.
• Atanasio Torres, Portland, Ore.
