WASHINGTON, D.C. -- Bringing nearly 10 years of Capitol Hill experience, Dan Houton has joined the MEMA Washington office as director, government relations. Houton will be chiefly responsible for handling tax and trade policy for MEMA and its affiliate members AASA, HDMA, MERA and OESA.

Since January 2002, Houton has worked with the office of Rep. Richard Neal (D-Mass.), a senior member of the House Ways and Means Committee. Houton handled issues relating to taxes, trade, energy and transportation and was specifically responsible for staffing Neal on the important Trade Subcommittee.

“Dan brings a wealth of issue knowledge and practical Capitol Hill experience, which will help MEMA and its affiliate members develop and advance policy objectives on issues important to the supplier community,” said Ann Wilson, senior vice president of government affairs. “He is a wonderful addition to MEMA’s Washington office team.”

Houton is a graduate of the University of Rochester and holds a master's degree in American history from George Mason University.
