BALTIMORE, Md. -- Ralph Schissler, president and Owner of Atlantic Tire in Baltimore, Md., was named Mr. Oyster Roast 2011 by the Chesapeake Automotive Business Association (CABA). The award was presented March 27 during the 64th Annual CABA Oyster, Bull & Shrimp Family Fun Feast, held at the Martins West banquet hall near Baltimore.

The Mr. Oyster Roast award is given annually to a person who has contributed significantly over many years to the social spirit and success of the CABA Oyster Roast.

"Ralph [Schissler] is one of the most generous volunteers our association has ever had," said Sally Ernst, assistant executive director of CABA. "He is always there for us sponsoring events, promoting our association and giving his time and money to everything we do."

More than 400 people were on hand to witness Schissler's award, which was kept as a secret by his employees and customers and came as a complete surprise to him.

"Thank you very much for this award. I am humbled by the other names that are on this plaque before mine," said Schissler.

The "Oyster Roast" dates back to 1947, with a storied history as the largest and longest-running social event for the automotive aftermarket in the Chesapeake region. The annual event is an important fundraiser for CABA, enabling the association to provide its higher quality of benefits to local aftermarket businesses. Planning is under way for the 65th Annual event, tentatively scheduled for some time in late March 2012.
