HOLLYWOOD, Fla. – Standing in front of a new American Lemans Series LMPC Prototype decorated with Braille Battery branding, Performance Tech Motorsports owner Brent O’Neill announced a two-year agreement with the battery manufacturer, as a title sponsor for the team’s American Lemans Series campaign.

“We’ve worked in past years with the Braille engineering team and hold them and their products in the highest regard,” said O’Neill. “This two-year agreement should enable both the Performance Tech and Braille teams to be represented at every ALMS race across North America in 2011 and 2012.”

Braille Battery is a pioneer of lightweight battery systems for the transportation market, having developed the world’s first lithium ion original equipment replacement starting battery, according to the company. A Braille Battery also recently helped to power the Daytona 500-winning Ford, according to the company.

These batteries, and all of Braille’s products, blend racing technology and innovative design for environmental efficiency, which is a key theme in the American Lemans Series. This program with Performance Tech is a natural extension of Braille research and development, according to Braille founder Blake Fuller.

“Braille Batteries have often been referred to as the best kept secret in motorsports," said Fuller. "Our partnership with the Performance Tech racing team, and other programs in various motorsports, will help expose our brand to an audience who will be very excited to learn about our products. Our American factory is staffed with many racing enthusiasts. We are excited to see the growth of the ALMS series, and this LMPC program is going to be a lot of fun for all involved.”

For 2011, Performance Tech Motorsports will campaign an Oreca FLM09 prototype, recently imported from France. Decorated in Braille Battery color scheme and brand identification, the No. 18 car will be prepared and maintained at the Performance Tech headquarters in Hollywood, Fla., and driven by Anthony Nicolosi, Jarrett Boon and Jan-Dirk Lueders.

The first race for 2011 will be the Sebring 12 hours on March 19, followed by the Grand Prix of Long Beach a month later.
