Sixty-nine percent of shops (up three points from 2009) say they only use a brand they trust for oil filter replacement. That’s according to Counterman magazine’s 2010 Professional Automotive Repair Technician Survey (P.A.R.T.S.).
P.A.R.T.S. research also shows that jobbers gained several percentage points in 2010 as the primary source of oil filters -- at 50 percent, up from 46 percent in 2009.
Fast delivery took a huge leap in 2010 as the primary reason a shop relies on its first call -- increasing from 22 percent to 32 percent. Still, availability (32 percent) and best sales reps (29 percent) continued to play a role as well.
These and other statistics can be found in P.A.R.T.S., produced annually by Counterman magazine. Ten years ago, Counterman began surveying repair shops annually to determine when, how and why they source specific automotive parts and products. The resulting data, published every fall, offers perspective on how sourcing and brand-loyalty trends have changed.
