WILLOWBROOK, Ill. – Steve McShane, founder and CEO of Midtronics Inc., was recently inducted into the Chicago Area Entrepreneurship Hall of Fame. The Institute for Entrepreneurial Studies at the University of Illinois at Chicago chose McShane as a member of the 2011 Hall of Fame class in recognition of his entrepreneurial achievements and lasting impact on Chicago’s business landscape.

McShane founded Midtronics in 1984 with the introduction of innovative conductance testing technology for the automotive market. Now a worldwide leader in battery management solutions for the transportation and stationary battery markets, Midtronics has since developed advanced technologies for alternator and electrical system diagnostics that are recognized globally as standards for servicing these systems.

“It was a great honor to be inducted into the Chicago Area Entrepreneurship Hall of Fame,” McShane said. “I appreciate the individual recognition, but am most proud of the achievements of the entire Midtronics team. Through aggressive research and development, innovation and close relationships with customers, we have developed products that improve reliability, reduce costs and support our customers’ overall success.”

The 2011 Chicago Area Entrepreneurship Hall of Fame Class included professionals from a variety of industries, including healthcare, retail and business services.

“For the last 26 years, the Chicago Area Entrepreneurship Hall of Fame has been a showcase of Chicago’s successful entrepreneur community,” said Michael Pagano, interim dean of the UIC College of Business Administration. “Our newest inductees have proven that you can succeed in business, even in the toughest times, through creativity and dedication.”
