Trelleborg Only Got Part of China Plant, Maine Industrial Tire Says

From Tire Review

Maine Industrial Tire did indeed sell its Hebei, China, tire plant assets to Trelleborg Wheel Systems, but said that it only sold the pneumatic industrial tire portion of that facility.

Maine Industrial Tire said it has retained the solid industrial tire portion of the Hebei plant.

"Although we were continuing to produce pneumatic products under third-party brands, the pneumatic business was not core to our long-term business strategy," said Maine Industrial Tire president and COO Troy Kline. “The sale of the pneumatic assets would allow for better alignment of our global resources. Maine Tire will now have a singular focus on its core business – building world-class solid tire products for the conventional forklift, construction and specialty markets.”

Kline said the company is “expanding and optimizing its solid tire production capabilities at the Hebei and Red Lion, Pa., manufacturing facilities, a process that commenced last month with the announcement of the closure of our Gorham, Maine, manufacturing facility.”
