BARBERTON, Ohio – JohnDow Industries recently completed an asset purchase of the Handy Industries Gas Caddy line. The acquisition was made to help grow its gas caddy sales and distribution and better positions the company to meet the needs of many different fuel transfer and storage applications and markets, the company said.

Prior to the purchase, JDI’s gas caddy line, sold under the brand name Fuel Chief, was the largest in North America. Handy held the second position nationally and abroad, according to JohnDow. Handy Industries, located in Marshalltown, Iowa, has been manufacturing products since 1964.

“The staff at JohnDow is eager to work with the Handy customers as there has been a void in the market for their products for nearly a month,” said Mark Pfleeger, vice president-sales at JohnDow.

Handy Gas Caddy parts are now available through JDI.

The Handy Gas Caddy asset acquisition is the second of its kind for JDI in the past year. In September 2009, the assets of Dynamic Automotive Fasteners & Supplies of Madison Heights, Mich., were acquired as well.
