WASHINGTON, D.C. A Senate committee is expected to vote today on an $11 billion plug-in hybrid bill, the
Detroit Free Press reports.
President Obama wants 1 million plug-in hybrids on the road by 2015, according to the newspaper.
But vehicle manufacturers and environmental groups are concerned that consumers will have a difficult time swallowing an additional $15,000 to $20,000 added to the price tag of a hybrid plug-in compared with a conventional vehicle, the newspaper reports.
