PLANO, Texas -- Safety-Kleen is now the Official Trackside environmental service provider for all drag strips owned by the National Hot Rod Association (NHRA) across the U.S.

As part of its new agreement with NHRA, Safety-Kleen will provide environmental services for the Gainesville (Fla.) Raceway, NHRA Southern Nationals at Atlanta Dragway, U.S. Nationals at O'Reilly Raceway Park in Indianapolis and the season finale, the NHRA Finals, at Auto Club Raceway at Pomona, Calif.

Safety-Kleen will coordinate a number of green environmental initiatives with each NHRA track and racing team, including waste management procedures and collection of all used oil, fuels, solvent, oil filter and absorbent materials from the events, much of which will be recycled.

Safety-Kleen also will supply each racetrack with various environmentally friendly cleaning and absorbent products that will be used by the racers at the tracks.

"The NHRA believes in being green," said Eric Zimmer, executive vice president of sales and marketing for Safety-Kleen. "Safety-Kleen is very excited about partnering with NHRA tracks and teams to help support the sport while minimizing its impact on the environment."

"Safety-Kleen understands racing and they know how to help us reduce the racetrack's environmental footprint," added Don Robertson, executive general manager of Gainesville Raceway. "They will not only collect the used oil from the track, but the oil will have a second life when it is recycled and re-refined to make EcoPower motor oil."
