LONG BEACH, Calif. -- The Indy Racing League, sanctioning body for the IZOD IndyCar Series, has announced plans to launch a Technical Review Committee, effective immediately.
The Technical Review Committee will feature league and team representatives who will meet weekly to review and discuss all technical proposals submitted to the league by IZOD IndyCar Series teams. The committee will make recommendations to Brian Barnhart, president of competition and racing operations for the Indy Racing League, who will make the final decision on the approval of all proposals.
"Given the overwhelming positive response to the formation of the ICONIC Advisory Committee in the search for our next-generation car, we have decided to create a similar process for all technical proposals presented to the league that will allow discussion in a more transparent forum," Barnhart said.
All proposals presented by teams to the committee, along with the final ruling by Barnhart, will be posted to a participant-only website, giving teams equal access to rules interpretation information.
