RICHARDSON, Texas -- Challenging economic conditions have presented fast-lube businesses with a new value proposition: Embrace change, or risk the consequences.
With that goal in mind, the Automotive Oil Change Association (AOCA) presents the fast-lube industry’s showcase event iFLEX 2010, the International Fast Lube Expo as a way for businesses to adapt and thrive by learning more about the latest products, services and best practices.
iFLEX will take place this year at the Las Vegas Convention Center and Las Vegas Hilton from Saturday, April 24, through Wednesday, April 28. The event is designed specifically for the fast-lube industry, but is open to professionals from all automotive service operations. Previously known as the AOCA Annual Convention and Trade Show, iFLEX has been transformed into a dynamic conference, according to event organizers, and will feature more than 50 hours of educational sessions available, as well as a comprehensive, two-day trade show featuring the leading providers of products and services.
“As the only organization dedicated totally to this industry, AOCA understands that fast-lube operators and other automotive service professionals are constantly searching for ways to generate revenue, and to add or maximize their current services,” said David Saddler, AOCA executive director. “Success comes from learning more about what’s happening in the industry, and by networking with colleagues who face similar challenges. We created iFLEX as an event that presents all of those opportunities in one place. It’s a tremendous value, because attendees will come away with knowledge that will benefit their businesses for years to come.”
In addition to the expansive trade show, iFLEX highlights will include:
A “New Owners Boot Camp,” an intensive one-day session geared toward newcomers to the fast-lube industry, as well as owners and operators who want to learn more about industry best practices.
Educational sessions devoted to “green” topics, including electric vehicles and hybrids, environmentally friendly practices and regulatory information.
Close examination of best practices and new opportunities for marketing, including online-based technology, expanded services, and vertical expansion for existing fast-lube businesses.
An overview of generational differences among employees and customers, and the best way to adapt to changing demographics.
Security measures that can be taken to reduce risk and improve management at fast-lube facilities.
An in-depth look at vehicle inspection procedures, giving providers a chance to not only identify service opportunities, but also play an important role in promoting vehicle safety and reliability.
The latest information about compliance for new industry-wide regulatory policies.
An overview of new lubrication products, including a close examination of specifications and standards.
There will be numerous opportunities that will allow newcomers to mix with longtime AOCA members and learn more about the organization.
“AOCA members are known for their willingness to share information,” Saddler said. “It’s a point of pride among our members that everyone is welcome at our events, and that everyone has something valuable to offer.”
