The Senate Committee on Commerce, Science and Transportation on Dec. 15 approved the nomination of David Strickland to head the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA).
Strickland, who served as a senior counsel to the Senate Commerce Committee, was nominated less than two weeks earlier for the administrator position.
During the proceedings, Strickland indicated that he would make bus safety, distracted driving and reducing reliance on foreign oil as priorities of his stay at NHTSA.
