WASHINGTON, D.C. -- The Obama Administration has nominated David Strickland to serve as chief administrator of the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA).

Strickland is currently the senior Democratic counsel to the Senate Subcommittee on Consumer Protection, Product Safety and Insurance. The Harvard Law School graduate has served at the Senate Commerce Committee since August 2001, and helped draft the Energy Bill of 2007, which includes still-to-be-completed tire fuel efficiency testing and labeling requirements.
