Miles Driven Up Again in September

WASHINGTON, D.C. -- The Federal Highway Administration is reporting that vehicle miles traveled (VMT) rose 2.5 percent in September for the fourth straight monthly increase.

According to the government, VMT rose from 234.9 billion in September 2008 to 240.7 billion in September 2009. Cumulative VMT also are up 6.7 billion, or 0.3 percent, compared to the first nine months of 2008.
