SOUTHFIELD, Mich. R. L. Polk & Co. and Activant Solutions Inc. will soon launch a new intelligence solution for aftermarket manufacturers to help them enhance efficiency and identify business opportunities. The new Catalog Coverage Monitor builds upon the previously announced business relationship between the two companies and takes advantage of new Vista Replacement Rate intelligence developed by Activant in collaboration with Polk.
The two companies have integrated Polk’s National Vehicle Population Profile (NVPP) for light vehicles and Trucking Industry Profile (TIPNet) data for class 1-6 trucks, with the Web-based Activant Vista market intelligence solution, which captures and analyzes an extensive nationwide database of daily electronic catalog transactions by part number and vehicle platform. This provides manufacturers the ability to monitor overall market demand by vehicle on a month-to-month basis and to evaluate their parts versus market coverage as provided by the Activant catalog.
“Manufacturers will be able to more readily enhance coverage efficiency and increase their ability to fulfill their customers’ needs,” according to Mark Seng, vice president, aftermarket sales and client services at Polk “This new solution will help enhance supply chain efficiency at every level of the industry,” he said. “Manufacturers and their customers will be able to make faster, smarter decisions about which parts to offer, and in which quantities.”
This will help manufacturers increase their share of the market by taking into consideration the parts that are being looked up and sold in a given market area, while providing insight into the size of the sales opportunity given the number of corresponding vehicles registered within that market.
“This solution is part of Activant’s vision for full-channel intelligence, which includes manufacturers,” said Tom Aliotti, senior vice president, automotive, Activant Solutions. “We are excited to be working with Polk and building on its long-standing history in providing planning data and insight to manufacturers.”
