‘Doing Business in China’ – 3-5 p.m., Nov. 2, Sands Room 201

Timothy Weckesser, Ph.D., president and CEO of Sino-Consulting (SCI), the popular speaker at the AASA OAC Oct. 2 meeting in New York, will reprise his outstanding presentation in the OAC pre-AAPEX seminar, “Doing Business in China,” slated for 3-5 p.m., Monday, Nov. 2, in Room 201, Sands Expo Center.

Weckesser will discuss the outlook for the Chinese economy from his viewpoint as co-founder of SCI. He negotiated the original joint venture with the Osaka Gas Co. in Japan on behalf of the University City Science Center (UCSC) in Philadelphia. He also has overseen SCI’s development into an internationally recognized consulting firm providing strategic market entry services to companies.

‘Snapshot of the Auto Industry and the Effect on the Aftermarket’ – 9-10 a.m., Nov. 5, Venetian Room 705

The AASA seminar, “Snapshot of the Auto Industry and the Effect on the Aftermarket,” 9-10 a.m. on Thursday, Nov. 5, in Room 705, the Venetian, will examine the unprecedented turmoil and change experienced by the North American automotive industry in the last 24 months.

This seminar will feature subject-matter experts reviewing the major issues emerging from the automotive industry restructuring and the short-term and long-term affects on the North American automotive aftermarket.

Speakers will include Steve Handschuh, president and COO of AASA; Mike Hanley, partner, global automotive leader, Ernst & Young Bob McKenna, president and CEO of MEMA; and Ann Wilson, senior vice president of government affairs, MEMA.

Presentations will include: an aftermarket overview; a review of efforts to assist the automotive industry in Washington and the states; legislative and regulatory actions; and perspectives on the aftermarket’s future in North America and global markets by a major recognized thought-leader and analyst.

The seminar also will conclude with a question and answer session with the presenters.
