CARY, N.C. — The Cary Chamber of Commerce announced that Anthony Blackman, president of Atlantic Tire & Service, won the 2009 Business Leader of the Year award. The award, based on the Chamber’s fiscal year, is given annually to an individual who has made outstanding contributions to both the community and the Cary Chamber of Commerce.

The Chamber commented that Blackman, who has strived to be at the forefront of his profession and visibly active in the community, was recognized for having an entrepreneurial spirit and fostering a working environment that guaranteed results.

“It is an honor to receive this award from the Cary Chamber of Commerce,” said Blackman. “The chamber has always been very supportive of Atlantic Tire & Service and you couldn’t ask for a better community to work and live in. I will continue to do all I can to give back.”

Atlantic Tire & Service began serving Cary and surrounding communities in December 1998. Over the past several years, it has received the 2008 Tire Review Top Shop in North America Award, the industry’s prestigious Blue Seal of Excellence Award (the first recipient of this award in Cary), the Cary Chamber’s Employer of the Year Award, the Morrisville Chamber’s Business of the Year Award, and the Best Mechanic Maggy Award from Cary Magazine. Blackman won the Cary Chamber’s Citizen of the Year Award in 2006.
