WASHINGTON, D.C. -- U.S. Senators in support of ‘Cash for Clunkers’ legislation that aims to remove cars that get less than 18 mpg off the nation’s roadways, have reportedly removed the legislation from inclusion in a tobacco regulation bill currently under review by the Senate.
According to reports, the Senate Appropriations Committee objected to using money from the economic stimulus package to fund the project.
A second version of ‘Cash for Clunkers’ legislation is being considered in the House as part of a major Energy and Climate bill.
