SURVEY RESULTS: More than Half of Readers Feel Dealership Closures Were "Reckless"

Last week, the National Automobile Dealers Association (NADA) issued a statement calling the closure of approximately 800 Chrysler dealerships “reckless,” stating that the closures and their resulting effects will cause additional economic harm both locally and nationally. When asked whether they thought the closures were reckless or necessary, 60 percent of AMN Survey respondents agreed with NADA. Forty percent believe the closures are necessary in order to stabilize the U.S. auto industry.

For weeks now, industry analysts have warned that if GM declared bankruptcy the trickle-down effects on the supplier industry would be significant.
