Last week it was announced that President Obama is seeking to banish tax policies that he believes reward companies for moving U.S. jobs offshore. According to our recent survey on the proposal, the majority of AMN readers -- nearly 74 percent -- said the proposed tax changes will not help.
Obama's proposal, if passed by Congress, would strengthen the tax code that currently allows businesses to defer paying taxes on profits made overseas if they are invested back into the foreign subsidiaries. Many multinational firms are angered by the proposal, while critics say the current tax code permits companies to invest in foreign operations rather than creating more jobs in the U.S.
Do you think President Obama's proposed change in the tax treatment of American firms with overseas operations will help to move jobs back to the U.S.?
