DETROIT -- As part of its efforts to restructure, General Motors (GM) announced late last week that it will phase out the Pontiac brand of vehicles. GM said it will cease production of Pontiac vehicles by the end of 2010.

Moving forward, the automaker plans to focus on its four “core” brands: Chevrolet, Cadillac, Buick and GMC.
