Last week, we asked readers to tell us whether they used GM's OnStar or a similar in-vehicle telematics device and the majority (77%) said no, which could indicate slow adoption of vehicular telematics. That's not the case however with the more affordable and more widely available GPS systems that can be utilized in cars today.
Slightly more than half of AMN readers (51%) who responded to our most recent survey said they use a GPS device in their vehicle. Within the distribution segment, some jobbers and WDs are now using GPS to help track and map out deliveries in order to make them more efficient in terms of fuel, miles driven and delivery times.
