MCHENRY, Ill. -- Raybestos has announced the launch of the new Raybestos Police-specific brake system, which the company says is the industry’s first complete brake system designed specifically for law enforcement. With pursuit-proven pads, rotors and calipers, this system is intended to lower overall cost per mile while maintaining peak performance levels at extreme temperatures.

“Some law enforcement agencies use all OE components, or pads and rotors from a manufacturer they’ve used for years,” said Charles Darsey, test manager at Affinia’s Global Brake & Chassis R&D Facility in Winchester, Ky. “They are unaware of how the superior performance and overall value of this system could benefit their departments. If they’d perform comparison testing versus what they are using now, they would discover just how good Raybestos brand Police components are.”

Components of the Raybestos Police-specific brake system are designed to help eliminate problems that plague today’s cruisers, according to Raybestos. Police-specific brake pads reduce a fleet’s cost per mile and are D3EA PPSV certified. Pursuit-proven rotors are created with Quiet on Arrival (QOA) Technology and damped iron metallurgy that reduces vibration and suppresses noise. Police-loaded calipers contain high-temperature silicone boots able to withstand double the temperature of normal EPDM rubber for a sustained period of time, thus helping to prevent the “thermal events” many cruisers experience when a braking system overheats.

When allowed to interact together, the components of the Raybestos brand Police Brake System combine to form a reliable unit able to enhance the life of any law enforcement vehicle while delivering unparalleled performance whether patrolling city streets or giving chase during high-speed pursuits, said the company.
