Reports
from Macon, Ga., indicate that construction has been delayed on Kumho Tire’s
new $240 million tire plant in that area.
The
tiremaker, according to the report, said that current global economic
conditions and a general slowdown in the auto industry were to blame for the
delay.
The
plant, said Kumho, will be completed, but the timetable has been shifted. No
new timetable was announced. The plant was scheduled to open in December 2009.
