From aftermarketNews Staff & Wire Reports

Delphi has received $160 million in tax breaks from the city of Kokomo, Ind., in the hopes that factory upgrades will help keep 3,000 jobs in Kokomo.

According to a report from the Detroit Free Press, the Kokomo City Council voted unanimously to approve 10 years of tax abatements for Delphi, which in August announced plans to lay off several hundred salaried workers in Kokomo.

The funds will be used for new electronics manufacturing equipment and $100 million in replacement equipment at the Kokomo operations. According to Delphi, the investment is being used to continue hybrid technology work at the plant.
