JACKSON, MS -- Delphi customer Lextron Corp. has filed for bankruptcy protection a year after the company ended its contract with the Jackson, Miss.-based manufacturer. The contract cancellation forced Lextron to shut down its automotive production line, according to the TheDeal.com.

Lextron, which makes electronic components and cables for the automotive and telecommunications industries, filed for Chapter 11 protection in the U.S. Bankruptcy Court for the Southern District of Mississippi in February. Lextron listed more than $10 million in debt in the bankruptcy petition, including $7 million owed to its largest creditor, SouthTrust Bank. The Internal Revenue Service has filed a lien for $541, according to The Deal's report.

General Motors Corp., Boeing Co. and BellSouth were also among Lextron's major customers.
