GADSEN, AL -- Goodyear Tire & Rubber has added 150 new jobs at its plant in Gadsen, Ala. The workers will help produce tires for the company's new Assurance tire line.

Goodyear moved production of the Assurance ComforTred tire to the plant as resolution to a contract dispute with the United Steelworkers of America (UAW). According to published reports, the dispute involved an agreement between UAW and Goodyear to make a significant number of Assurance tires at the facilities employing union members.

The Gadsen plant, which currently employs 1,400 workers, makes 23,000 tires a day.
