Indicted Goodyear Board Member Quits
January 17, 2005
|

From Staff & Wire Reports

AKRON, OHIO -- Retired Federated Department Stores chairman and CEO James Zimmerman, indicted on perjury charges last week, resigned from Goodyear Tire & Rubber Co.’s board of directors today.

The perjury charges were unrelated to the tiremaker or its business dealings.

Zimmerman, 61, was accused by New York State Attorney General Eliot Spitzer of lying under oath last April during an antitrust investigation of Federated’s business activities. Zimmerman, who pleaded not guilty to those charges, retired from Federated in February 2003.

His resignation leaves Goodyear with just 10 members on its board of directors. Zimmerman had sat on Goodyear’s board since 2001.
