SOUTHFIELD, MI -- Lear Corp., the world's largest maker of automotive interiors, said corporate controller William Dirks has resigned from the company. Dirks, 44, left following "discussions with senior management regarding the finance department organization," the Southfield, Mich., company said in a filing with the Securities and Exchange Commission.

Lear spokeswoman Andrea Puchalsky said Dirks left because "he was looking for more responsibility and an increased role at Lear," but there wasn't one. James Murawski, 53, will replace Dirks. Murawski, previously Lear's vice president of audit services since June 2003, came from rival auto supplier Collins & Aikman Corp.
