ALPHARETTA, GA -- Exide Technologies announced that it has been awarded two battery supply contracts by the German Army.

Exide will supply approximately 15,000 units of its maintenance-free NATO bloc batteries to the German Army for military-vehicle applications. The 12-volt/100-amphere-hour gel batteries are scheduled for delivery in 2005. The batteries will be produced at Exide's manufacturing plants in Budingen and Bad Lauterberg, Germany.

"Exide has a long history as a battery supplier to military forces around the world," said Neil Bright, president - Industrial Energy Europe. "The German Army has relied on our technology for approximately 23 years, and its decision to again use Exide batteries speaks volumes about the quality and reliability of our products, services and people."
