CHANTILLY, VA -- Asiff Dhanani of Yamato Engine Specialists, Ltd. in Bellingham, WA, was selected by his peers as this year’s recipient of the “Engine Remanufacturer of the Year” Award. The award was presented to Dhanani during the 60th annual PERA Convention held Sept. 23 in Arlington, VA.

This award is periodically given by the Production Engine Remanufacturers Association (PERA) to those members who have provided outstanding service to the remanufacturing industry. Dhanani served as president of PERA in 2003-2004. Prior to his term as president he held numerous positions on the group's board of directors.

Dhanani started in the family business in 1981 and headed up customer service, sales and production. He learned about the industry by visiting successful production engine remanufacturers in the U.S. and Canada. Dhanani said his primary focus has been to constantly strive to have Yamato Engine be as “lean” as possible by always looking for better ways to operate.
