Right to Repair Congressional Hearing to be Held Today
November 10, 2005
|

WASHINGTON, D.C. -- A congressional hearing concerning the Motor Vehicle Owners’ Right to Repair Act of 2005, the Barton-Towns-Issa Bill (H.R. 2048) will be held before the House subcommittee on Commerce, Trade and Consumer Protection this morning.

This is the first hearing since the automakers and automotive aftermarket associations failed to come to a non-legislative agreement this past summer. Rep. Barton (R-TX) had promised to move the bill forward if there wasn't a resolution. Rep. Barton, who is chairman of the Energy and Commerce committee, has scheduled this hearing to discuss why negotiations between the two groups failed and to have both sides discuss their positions.

aftermarketNews.com will provide a recap of the hearing, as well as responses from the industry associations in tomorrow's edition.
