MILWAUKEE -- Johnson Controls has begun exploring various strategic alternatives for its Bristol Compressor business. The business is part of York International Corp., which Johnson Controls acquired on December 9, 2005.

Bristol Compressors operates facilities in Bristol, VA. The company manufactures a full line of scroll and reciprocating compressors used in air conditioning and heat pump applications.

William Blair and Company LLC, based in Chicago, has been retained by Johnson Controls as financial advisor to assist the company in the process.
