MIDLAND, MI --
Northwood University has awarded its inaugural scholarship in Heavy-Duty Aftermarket Management from the recently created Heavy Duty America (HDA) Founders Fund. The award went to Chris Kugler, a senior from Waterford, MI. Kugler will graduate this summer from Northwood with a Bachelor’s degree in Business Administration. His major was Aftermarket Management.
“I’m really thankful for this assistance,” said Kugler. “I’m planning to stay in the heavy-duty truck parts field, so I’m glad that Northwood was able to add all the new courses in the truck parts business.”
Kugler was also able to take advantage of Northwood’s increasingly close relationship with the commercial parts and service business by working for Horton in a summer apprentice job.
Kugler is the first scholarship recipient from a recently established memorial for two of the founders of Heavy Duty America. “I am certain that there is no better way to honor the legacy of Jim Burke and Peter Bley than by helping get bright young talent involved in our industry at the undergraduate college level,” commented HDA president Pat Biermann.
Northwood recently included a Heavy-Duty concentration in its Aftermarket Management curriculum, which is available at its Michigan, Florida and Texas campuses.
