VAN BUREN TOWNSHIP, MI -- Visteon has received the 2006 Alfred P. Sloan Award for Business Excellence in Workplace Flexibility for the greater Detroit area. The award was presented at a ceremony May 10 at the Gem Theater in Detroit.

The Alfred P. Sloan Awards for Business Excellence in Workplace Flexibility are part of When Work Works, a national project on workplace effectiveness and workplace flexibility from Families and Work Institute in partnership with The Center for Workforce Preparation, an affiliate of the U.S. Chamber of Commerce, and the Twiga Foundation.

One of nine honorees, Visteon was recognized for its progressive work-life balance programs, which include telecommuting, job sharing or reduced work schedules and compressed work weeks.

"We are very honored to be recognized for this award," said Chuck Hudson, vice president, corporate human resources. "Our employees are Visteon's strength, and ensuring they have the flexibility to create a successful work-life balance is our commitment to them."

Visteon ranked in the top 20 percent of employers nationally in terms of flexible work programs, policies and culture. Survey responses from Visteon management and employees were measured against national data from the Families and Work Institute's "National Study of Employers."
