From Staff & Wire Reports

AKRON, OHIO -- The Associated Press has reported that the U.S. Labor Department has filed a hiring discrimination suit against Goodyear Tire & Rubber Co.

The suit alleges the tiremaker discriminated against female applicants for jobs at its Danville, VA, tire plant in the 1990s.

The suit filed was filed June 14 and seeks to have Goodyear “hire and provide back wages, retroactive seniority and all other employment benefits to the female applicants who were denied employment,” the AP said.

A spokesperson at the Danville plant told the AP that the company denies any wrongdoing and is working with the Labor Department to resolve the issues.
