NEW YORK -- Investment firm Pardus Capital Management LP said Wednesday it purchased 500,000 additional common shares of Visteon Corp., boosting its stake in the Michigan-based automotive systems and component maker to 10.5 percent.

Pardus bought the additional shares for $6.86 a piece, according to a document filed with the Securities and Exchange Commission Wednesday. That gives Pardus 13.5 million shares of Visteon stock. Visteon currently has about 128 million shares outstanding.

Shares of Visteon rose 2 cents to close at $7.07 on the New York Stock Exchange, and added a penny in after-hours trading on the INET electronic exchange.
