SEATTLE, WA -- Zonar Systems, a provider of integrated fleet telematics products, has announced that Mike Griffus, a nationally respected expert on student transportation and commercial trucking, has joined the company as director of sales. Griffus will lead the national and international sales team from Zonar’s office in Pleasanton, CA.

Griffus comes to Zonar from Laidlaw Transit, the world’s largest school bus fleet operator. As senior vice president for the western U.S. region, he managed 120 locations and more than 7,500 vehicles. He also spearheaded operational efficiencies and other improvements that resulted in dramatic increases in profitability, while also cutting in half the company’s accident rate and reducing insurance costs, according to Zonar. From 1981 to 1990, he held positions of increasing responsibility with Leaseway Transportation, a trucking and contract logistics service provider; while there, he developed incentive-based systems for productivity and safety improvements.
