BURLINGTON, VT -- CARQUEST member BWP Distributors has entered into an agreement to purchase the operating assets of Maynard Auto Supply, headquartered in Burlington, VT. The expected closing date is July 24.

This purchase includes the Maynard Auto Supply Distribution Center in Essex Junction, VT, 12 stores in Vermont and one store in New Hampshire. Maynard Auto Supply employs approximately 120 people at these 14 locations.

BWP President Neil Stockel said the acquisition offers Maynard the opportunity for growth.

“We take these opportunities as they come,” explained Stockel. “We’re not overly aggressive, but when opportunities come up in our market, we certainly want to take advantage of them. Maynard hasn’t been growing for years and they are very happy that we are doing this. Among all their people, their management and sales people, they really think this is going to be an opportunity to grow.”

BWP currently services 121 independently-owned and 107 company-owned CARQUEST Auto Parts stores located in 10 northeastern states and employs close to 1,300 people. According to Counterman magazine, it is the 12th largest parts store group in the US.

The Maynard Distribution Center will continue operations until all jobber changeovers are completed. At that point, the DC will become a satellite warehouse location supported by three full-service CARQUEST Distribution Centers in Armonk, NY, Sutton, MA, and Delran, NJ.
