PHILADELPHIA -- The Pep Boys announced the promotion of Mark Bacon to executive vice president - operations.
CEO Bill Leonard remarked, "It is with pleasure that I announce the promotion of Mark Bacon to executive vice president - operations from senior vice president - operations. Since he joined us a little over a year ago, Mark has been working diligently to instill the energy, enthusiasm and excitement a dynamic retail and service business like Pep Boys requires."
He continued, "Together with Hal Smith, executive vice president of merchandising and marketing, Mark will continue to build on the established retail renewal at Pep Boys and lead a synchronized effort to advance the turnaround of our parts and service business."
In other Pep Boys’ news, the retailer also announced that Nick White has joined its Board of Directors. White is president and CEO of White & Associates, a management consulting firm that he founded in 2000. From 1973 through 2000, White held numerous executive and management level positions with Wal-Mart Stores, Inc., including executive vice president and general manager of the Supercenter division from 1990 to 2000 and executive vice president and general manager of Sam's Wholesale Club from 1985 through 1989. White serves as a director of Gold Toe Corporation, Oneida Ltd. and Playtex Products, Inc.
White was proposed to the Board by a group of investors led by Barington Capital Group, L.P., pursuant to the terms of the recently announced agreement between Pep Boys and the Barington group. White has been appointed in the place of Alan Bernikow, who had been previously proposed by the Barington group, but who subsequently informed the company of his inability to serve on the Board.
White has been appointed to the Human Resources Committee and Shareholder Rights Plan Committee of the Board.
