TORONTO -- NASCAR is entering the Canadian auto racing market, with the purchase of CASCAR and the launch of a new stock car racing series.
The sale of CASCAR to the stock car racing giant was announced at a news conference Tuesday in Toronto. The deal, which has been in the works for the past two years, will see NASCAR sanction the Canadian Tire Series in Canada that will feature a season-long points battle.
Beginning in 2007, there will be 10 to 12 races running from May to October.
The schedule will be announced at a later date.
